You might know Robin Williams for his roles in top-rated films like the universally acclaimed Good Will Hunting, the $262 million grossing Jumanji, or the 90’s comedy hit Mrs. Doubtfire. What you might not know is that he identified himself as a “hardcore gamer”.
How did you know Robin Williams? Was it as the voice of Genie in Disney’s Aladdin, or as the voice of a love-expert penguin in Happy Feet? Maybe you were more familiar with his roles in Night at the Museum or Good Will Hunting. Or going further back, maybe you remember him as the best English teacher ever in Dead Poets Society, or as the sweetest man from outer space in Mork & Mindy.
But did you know he was also a gamer? Did you know he loved online gaming and that he’d been playing video games longer than some of us have been alive? He even went so far as to name his only daughter after the eponymous Legend of Zelda series.
Now you know. Rest well, Mr. Williams.
